Biophotonics PhD Course at DaMBIC, University of Southern Denmark

January 18, 2021 - January 22, 2021

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Bioimaging plays an important role in modern biosciences not only as a tool for research but also as a means to improve medical treatments. The main objective of this course is to provide the theoretical basis of bioimaging together with some “hands on” laboratory practice. The goal of the course is to teach the students general principles of fluorescence and light microscopy as well as to demonstrate principles behind advanced fluorescence and imaging techniques as well as a short introduction to image processing and analysis.

There will be practical demonstrations and hands on exercises on all topics. The course is a five-day intensive course taking place within one week. The course is relevant for PhD students within medicine, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, nano-bioscience, pharmaceutical sciences, agricultural science or biology. The course corresponds to 5 ECTS points.

COVID-19:

At present, we are genuinely hoping to be able to run the course with physical presence here at SDU. We think that the hands-on aspect is a very important part of this course and therefore, if covid-19 infection rates does not allow us to run the course physically here at SDU, we will notify everyone well in advance (~3-4 weeks) and postpone the course ~6 months.
