Application Specialist – electron microscopy (TEM)

Job description
As Application Specialist you will be co-responsible for all operational aspects of the CFIM TEMs workflow, including negative stain, cryo-specimen preparation, screening of cryo samples, and Titan Krios operation.

As Application Specialist you will have the following key responsibilities:

You will do the sample mounting, beam alignments and small preventive maintenance duties of the TEM tools
You schedule, train, and supervise the work of CFIM TEM users according to CFIM booking.
You will work in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment in close collaboration with CFIM staff, tool suppliers, device and process experts.
You will participate in organizing CFIM events, courses etc
Qualifications
We expect candidates with minimum a master’s degree in life science/chemistry/physics/engineer.

The practical and technical experience of the applicants will be one of the main criteria:

Demonstrated experience with TEM and preferably Titan Krios operation

At least 2 years’ experience in the area of transmission electron microscopy with a solid understanding of electron microscopy principles

Experience with single particle analysis, image interpretation, and image processing equivalents is an asset

Experience with SEM is likewise an advantage

We also expect that:

You are interested in working hands-on in a clean lab environment.

You are able to work in a fast-paced setting, to multi-task and to prioritize assignments.

You have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.
